Discover Gas Card Benefits
Gas and Money Saving Tips by Doug Smith

Some of the latest credit cards have the flexibility of offering you cash rebates or cash back regardless of which gas station you frequent. It used to be that credit card companies charged their customers extra for using their credit card at gas stations. Now these same companies, recognizing the huge scale of the pay-at-the-pump gasoline business, have started a credit card rebate war by offering progressively better rewards, rebates, and cash back. One of the primary credit cards in this area is the Discover Gas Card.

Many modern credit cards offer gas rewards or cash back on almost any purchase, including gasoline. A few, like the Discover Gas Card, cater to those cost-conscious consumers shopping for the best deals on gas purchases. The Discover gas card either has no annual fee, or waives the fee when small minimum purchase limits are met.

Benefits Of A Discover Gas Card

One of the Discover gas card's most astounding offers is a rebate of up to 10% on fuel purchases. Notice that the offer is for 5% cash rebate on gas purchases, or up to 10% savings for gas consumers who agree to accept their rebates in the form of gift certificates from Discover's retail partners.

The program is tiered, meaning that the gas rebate depends on your total annual gas purchases and how fast the top savings tier is reached. Nevertheless, the Discover gas card is a terrific value, offering you a rebate of 5% as cash or up to 10% as gas rewards or gift certificates.

As mentioned earlier, the Discover Gas Card also offers rebates on purchases other than gasoline. The Discover Gas Card offers up to 5% rebates on every fuel purchase, plus up to a 1% discount on each purchase of other items. The "other item" rebates are based on the annual purchase level and type of purchases. Gas purchase awards are applied when you pay at the pump or at the gas station counter.

Discover states that consumers can earn ‘up to 10% Cashback Bonus® award when you exchange cash award for up to double the amount in certificates for products and services from their Cashback Bonus ® Partners.’ If you like the products and services associated with the Cashback Bonus ® program, this is the gas credit card for you.

What Else Should You Consider?

Expect many more exciting new offers from the Discover Gas Card. Rebate percentages are going to continue to escalate if the fuel prices keep rising and because of competing gas credit cards. Don't forget to look beyond the rebate at the Discover gas card interest rate. Interest rates tend to be very competitive at 10 to 16% or less on Discover Gas Cards. You probably shouldn't use the Discover gas card if you intend to carry a balance on that card.
